the mothman scares me
Sunday night. I cleaned up the apartment today. Unpacked the last of the boxes from the move and put away what I could. There’s still laundry to be folded and put away. I hate putting away the laundry. And then there’s Vice City, which needs to go back to the video store tonight. Crapola is right. It’s cold out there and I don’t feel like getting in my car, waiting for the windows to de-fog, and drive all the way up to hollywood video.
I hung the stockings on the fireplace, just like they do on tv. In hawaii you don’t have fireplaces, so it’s neat to do things the way we always thought other people did them. Of course, we’re broke and they’ll probably end up staying as empty as they are today, but that’s fine.
In Miss Fix-It news, I conquered the dryer today. It wasn’t drying properly. It took two whole cycles to dry a load of laundry. A load of laundry should be more than dry after just ONE cycle. I unlatched the folding doors that lead to the laundry closet and pulled the whole darn thing out. I then climbed behind the dryer and re-stuffed the venting coil that lets the exhaust out. It wasn’t sitting right, and wasn’t letting the hot air escape. Then I shoved mister dryer back into place and tested it. Voila! It works just like a normal dryer. Just before we moved in, new carpet and flooring were installed. I think they messed up the dryer hose when the pushed it back in.
We discussed getting a tree this year. We didn’t come to a real decision on it, but we’ll see. I miss having a live tree around. But things are so different when there’s no family. We don’t have piles of presents under the tree like we did back home. It’s just the two of us, and since we’d much rather pay bills, we don’t do well with allowing for gifts and giftwrap and all the pretty things that go under a tree. We keep saying that next year when we’re more settled in, but next year comes and we’re still struggling. This new job will really help in that area.
Speaking of new job – ONLY ONE MORE WEEK of this job to go. I’m pretty darn stoked to be moving on.
