It’s Not Jurrasic Park, Paolo, It’s the South Pacific.
The high point of the episode was that line. I didn’t like this one at all. They’ve left us with NOTHING to wonder about.

In my quest to find the perfect photo management and posting software this week, I also tried out a different browser (flock) and some new firefox extensions. The most recent of these is this thing I’m writing with now, Deepest Sender. It seems to work okay, despite its odd-sounding title, but keep in mind that I haven’t hit the post button yet. (It leads me to believe that someone who doesn’t speak english wrote it…)
Anyhow, there are a couple of things I’ve learned this week in the world of technology:
- Firefox is still the best browser out there. True, Flock worked nicely for about five minutes. It looks good, it has nice Flickr integration and for the most part, just felt like firefox with new icons. Maybe I’m overly paranoid, but when my browser is logging into my accounts for me, convenient as that may be, and ultimately, that’s what this here Deepest Sender extension is doing, but when the browser is actually *designed* to behave this way, it’s going beyond the definition of ‘browser’ I think. Also it bothers me a little that Flock is being marketed as “The Social Browser.” AND it’s not finished. I believe Firefox is more tested and less buggy.
- Speaking of buggy, f-spot is that. It will work really nicely one day.
- I tried Picasa for Linux since f-spot crashes all the time with my photo collection. Not interested in figuring out the problem with f-spot, just want to find something that works. And while Picasa worked, it refused to shut down cleanly, leaving behind some wine taskbar something or other and some .exe programs running.
- Enter digiKam, I think it’s my answer to the question of local organization and filing.
- Contrary to what I’ve said previously, Flickr really is the best online photo album ever. It solves my issue with Gallery/Album. The only thing I’m not liking is that it’s hosted elsewhere. Of course, once I got over that and the fact that I had to pay a whole $25USD for a year, I got to really like it. Wonderful tool. Can’t say enough good things about it.
So that’s been my week. So far pretty good. Now if I could just sit down and watch last night’s Lost episode…

Yesterday the weather people said that we might have large amounts of snow. So even though there wasn’t really *that* much snow, jonah and I decided to hang out in our jammies all day.
When it warmed up outside, I put his snowsuit on and let hi mcrawl around in it for the first time ever. He thought it was the coolest thing. (Lame joke totally accidental.)
